On July 16, 2014, we took Elder Bryce Dahl to the airport to fly to Salt Lake City. He then took a shuttle to the Mission Training Center in Provo, Utah. It was hard to say goodbye, but we are proud that he is not only worthy but excited to serve a mission for the Lord.
Bryce will be in the MTC just shy of two weeks. His estimated date of departure for Boston is July 29th.
Yesterday we got our first email from Elder Dahl. He is extremely happy and thriving in the MTC. Here is the letter we received from him:
Hello Mom and everybody!
The MTC is amazing!! I love all that we are doing and my teachers
are fantastic! My companion, Elder Hyre, is super awesome and carries a strong
spirit. We taught a role play investigator today, his name is Richard and he is
played by the male teacher Brother Weber, the Sister teacher is Sister Vahey.
Today in class we studied 1 Nephi chapter 1 and I got the most out of it I have
ever gotten out of it! Wow! There is so much in every individual scripture! The
spirit is so strong here and it is amazing to feel the testimonies of all the
Elders and Sisters.
I absolutely love my district there are ten of us in my district 9
going to Boston 1 (Elder Pape) going to Manchester. Let Elder Candland know! If
he meets an Elder Pape then he met one of the Elders in my district! Elder Pape
is in my room along with Elder Hyre and Elder Lortcher. We met the Branch
President last night and we got to take off our "dork dots" (the
little orange dot on your tag that tells everyone that you are new, and in turn
causes you to receive about 5,000 "welcome to the MTC's") During the
meeting with the BP I received the call to be the Music Coordinator in our
Branch! By the way I just remembered that Elder Hyre is related to the
Brimhalls!
On Wednesday night we got to teach real investigators, I got to
testify to Chico that his son who died as an infant is saved in the kingdom of
heaven and not caught in limbo, nor was Chico responsible for it. It was so
amazing to see the comfort wash over this man and hear his relief in knowing
that he could see and live with his family who had passed away again and that
they could be together forever in heaven and live with God. Elder Hyre and I
have a goal to memorize the missionary purpose and today D&C 100:4. We are
doing great and have both down solid! Boom! Also I had my first dream in the
mission language! ;) (Words of Elder Jones the DL.) I love the gospel and I
love the MTC.
Elder Hyre and I are going to sing in the MTC choir too! We get to
sing at the devotional on Tuesday! Our zone leader Elder Snelders is hilarious
and super helpful, he will teach you to shine your shoes as he does this every
day! Tell Sister Horvath thank you for the wonderful story and tell Juli thank
you for the wonderful note! There are 18 missionaries going to Boston on the
29th! Watch out Boston the missionaries are coming the missionaries are
coming!! I also met a ton of missionaries coming to Gilbert! I believe there
are three of us from my district from Arizona,Sister Williams, Sister
Alexander, and me. Elder Hyre and I keep saying and agree that the missionaries
going to Boston are of a high caliber. All of them are so amazing and carry
such a beautiful testimony and spirit. I am so blessed to know these Elders and
Sisters.
I love you all, hold strong to the gospel, it is the truth and the
way back to Christ, He loves us and He knows our needs, do not doubt, fear not,
the Lord is with us all and He can and does comfort us from all our hardships
and sufferings. I am trying my best to love in a Christlike way, and an
interesting thing me and Elder Hyre found is that everyone is an eternal being,
and has eternal potential, do not see people as a statistic but as the eternal
being they truly are.
Much Love,
Elder Dahl

I'm so glad that you have another blog started. I missed reading about your happenings. Bryce sounds so awesome in all his letters and we have very much enjoyed reading them. We need to start writing him. We are not too good of writers over here. I'm so proud of him! He is one amazing young man and missionary!
ReplyDeleteI also love your new family picture. It is so good of everyone!
